LARP Pay (LARPay) setup guide

How to change your Apple Wallet card design

Can you change what your card looks like in Apple Pay? Officially, the artwork comes from your bank. LARPay replaces that picture on your own iPhone with any of 1,000+ designs or your own photo. Only the image changes: the card number, your bank and your payments stay exactly the same. Here is the whole process, with a real recording on a Mac and an iPhone.

What you need

  • An iPhone with the card already in Apple Wallet (designed for iOS 18 and later)
  • A USB cable that carries data, to connect the iPhone to your computer
  • A Mac with Apple Silicon and macOS 14 or later, or a Windows 10/11 64-bit PC (not S mode) with iTunes from apple.com
  • A LARPay license key, sent by email after purchase

Step by step

  1. 01

    Get your license

Buy LARPay once on larp-pay.com. Two license keys arrive by email: one for you and one to gift to a friend.

  2. 02

    Download and install

On the download page, click “Download for Mac” (or Windows). On a Mac, open the file, drag LARPay into Applications and open it; if macOS asks, click Open. On Windows, install iTunes from apple.com first, then run the installer.

  3. 03

    Activate

Paste the license key from your email and click “Activate”. You only do this once on each computer.

  4. 04

    Pick a design

Choose one of the 1,000+ designs, or upload your own photo and adjust it to the card. Then click “Next: connect your iPhone”.

  5. 05

    Connect your iPhone

Plug the iPhone in with the USB cable and unlock it. If it asks whether to trust this computer, tap Trust and enter your passcode. Click “Find my iPhone” and wait for “Ready”.

  6. 06

    Open the card in Wallet

Only after “Ready”: double-click the iPhone’s side button, authenticate with Face ID or your passcode, and tap the card you want to change. Keep it open on the screen. No payment or card reader is needed.

  7. 07

    Apply the new design

When LARPay shows the detected card, click “That’s the one”, then “Change skin”. Keep the iPhone connected and unlocked until it finishes, usually in under a minute.

  8. 08

    See the result

Close Wallet and open it again: your card shows its new design. If it hasn’t changed, repeat the last two steps.

Troubleshooting

The card isn’t detected
Close Wallet, start a new scan in LARPay and wait for “Ready” before opening the card again. Tap the card itself so it’s selected. If needed, unplug and reconnect the cable.
Wallet was already open
Close it. After LARPay shows “Ready”, double-click the side button again.
The iPhone isn’t found
Unlock the iPhone, use a cable that carries data (not a charge-only cable) and tap Trust. On Windows, install iTunes from apple.com, not the Microsoft Store version.
My computer warns before opening the installer
Download LARPay only from larp-pay.com. The download page explains what to do if Windows SmartScreen or macOS asks before opening it.
The design went back to the original
A bank or iOS update can replace custom artwork. Keep a copy of your design and apply it again with the same steps.

Questions

What is LARP Pay (LARPay)?

LARP Pay, written LARPay, is desktop software for changing the artwork of an existing Apple Wallet card on your iPhone. You choose a design on a Mac or Windows computer and connect the iPhone by USB. It is independent of Apple and does not issue bank cards or process your Apple Pay payments.

Can I change the card image in Apple Wallet settings?

The card artwork normally comes from your issuer. This guide uses LARPay on a computer and an unofficial USB customization method, rather than a setting in Wallet. Compatibility depends on your iPhone and iOS version, and updates can replace the custom artwork.

Does this change my real card, bank or payments?

No. Only the picture of the card in Wallet on your iPhone changes. The card, its number, your bank account and how you pay stay the same.

Is this an official Apple feature?

No. LARPay is independent and not affiliated with Apple or any card issuer. It uses an unofficial customization method, so iOS updates can affect it.

Does LARPay see my card details?

LARPay doesn’t connect to your bank or card account, and it never asks for your card number, CVV or Apple ID password.

Can I use my own photo?

Yes. Upload a picture and adjust it to fit the card.

Can I restore the bank’s original design?

There is no one-click restore in this version. Keep a copy of any artwork you may want to apply again.

How much does it cost?

One payment, no subscription, including a second license to gift. If you don’t get the result, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days.
